Set screen SAP Downloads

    Download production versions of software available from the SAP Marketplace:
    http://service.sap.com/swdc where you will be asked for an "OSS ID" SAP gives to customers to report problems to SAP, search for SAP Notes, and download software. (swcenter is no longer available)

      Download the SAPGUI 6.2 installer from:
      Ordering SAP Software > SAP Frontend > SAP Frontend GUI/ITS > SAP Frontend (GUI/ITS) 620 Comp.5

      Download the SAPGUI 610 Patches from http://service.sap.com/SWCENTER-MAIN
      SAP R/3 > SAP R/3 4.6C > Binary Patches > SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 6.10 > Win32 > GUI610.EXE

    For demo software, don't bother with http://www.sdn.sap.com where you need a SDN (SAP Developer Network) login. All that overhead makes the download timeout even on a fast cable connection.

    Download trial editions of the most recent software versions from anonymouse FTP (SAP doesn't have CVS server?!)
    ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sdn/devkits/netweaver/java or
    ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sdn/devkits/netweaver/abap.

    A download session will time-out if your computer downloads at less than 700KB/Second. If you have a slower connection, download using a program which resumes sessions, such as SAP's download manager or:
    Download Accelerator Plus. Its free version works fine but is annoying adware.

    The free 90-day license can be extended.

    Rather than being guided through several screens, some find it easier to install using an edited installation text file, especially if several similar machines need to be installed.

    Set screen MaxDB

    maxdb.sap.com/documentation

    The installer provides selection of drives for several database destinations:

    • Independent Program
    • Independent Data Drive
    • Instance-Dependent Software Drive

    Log volumes C:\sapdb\J2E\saplog For a list of logs, use the command diag_histlist.
    Data Volumes C:\sapdb\J2E\sapdata -

    To display a list of database files in database instance DEMODB by calling the Database Manager CLI as operator OLEG with password MONDAY:

      dbmcli -u OLEG,MONDAY -d DEMODB file_getlist 1

      keyname,mode,size,date,time,comment,filename
      KNLDIAG ASCII 50608 20050421 133815 Database Messages knldiag.classic

      Notice in this example the mode is "ASCII", the size "50608", the date is YYYYmmdd, the time is HHMMSS format.

Set screen Verify and Untar

    Verify the number of bytes.

    Winzip.

    The path name length of the destination directory must not exceed 10 characters (e.g. C:\temp). Otherwise the unzip process fails due to Windows filesystem path name length restrictions. The content of this archive can be erased after the installation has finished.

    A folder "NW04SneakPrevJavaSPxx" is created on expansion.

    Click start.htm for the installation documentation.
    Demo versions of SAP require a specific userid and password (abcd123).

    Click start.bat to start the installation program.

Set screen Network

    To run on a stand-alone system without a network connection to other servers:

    1. In Add Hardware, setup a Microsoft Loopback Adapter
    2. In Networking, assign an IP address such as "10.10.1.10".
    3. In Networking, create a "Local Networking2" for LAN connection.

    Internally, program "r3inst.exe" installs BASIS.

    To display the Oracle Release installed, invoke report code RSORAREL.

    When installing SAPGUI 4.x, check "Development Tools" (Screen Painter utility programs) if your installation will edit or create custom dialog screens.
