      1 compute unit is the "CPU capacity of a 1.0-1.2 GHz 2007 Opteron or 2007 Xeon processor, the equivalent to an early-2006 1.7 GHz Xeon processor."

      The "Res." columns lists the annual payment to reserve Linux instance capacity at the discounted hourly rate.

    • The AWS Simple Monthly Calculator tallies monthly costs for any combination of services selected.

      Amazon specifies the Network I/O speed to be 250 Mb/second.

    Set screen MapReduce / Hadoop Batch Processing

      Windows images are more expense than Linux images because of Microsoft licensing fees.

      Linux batch MapReduce (Hadoop) instances are even cheaper than dynamic Linux instances listed.

      Amazon also provides a further price reductions for reserved instances obtained with a monthly fee.
